Chili Potato Recipe

Here is the recipe of Chili Potato, a treat for the ones you love and care.

A few days ago, I shared the recipe of Chili Paneer, this is a similar one, but with potatoes being the key ingredients.

In case you want to get a different taste, Potato works well, which is also easily available in any kitchen.

Below is the step by step process to prepare this Chili Potato at home, I hope you and everyone else in your family is going to love it.

Preparation Time: 10-12 minutes

Cooking Time: 15 Minutes

Serving: 4

Ingredients for potato to fry:

Potato (cut into cubes) 3-4 medium size
Corn flour 3/4 cup
Pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon
Red chili sauce 1 teaspoon
food color a pinch
Salt to taste
Soya sauce 1/2 teaspoon
Water 1/4 cup
Vegetable oil for deep frying

Ingredients for Gravy:

Vegetable oil 2 tbsp
Ginger, chopped 1  teaspoon
Garlic, chopped 1 teaspoon
Capsicum (cut into 1/2 inch cubes) 1
Carrot (optional), chopped 1 tbsp
Beans (optional), chopped, 1 tbsp
Spring onion (white part), chopped 2 tbsp
Onion 1
Soya sauce 1 teaspoon
Green chili, chopped 2
Red chili sauce 1 teaspoon
Pepper powder 1/4 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Vinegar 1 teaspoon
Corn flour 1 tbsp dissolved in 2tbsp water

Method:

1. Cut the onion, potato and capsicum into 1/2 inch cubes. Chop ginger, garlic, spring onion, carrot and beans finely.

2. In a bowl, add all the ingredients given in the table above except potato and vegetable oil ” Ingredients for potato frying” and mix it well. You need a thick and lumps free batter to coat the potato cubes for frying.

3. Add potato in the bowl and mix it well.

4. Heat the wok with oil and deep fry the well-coated potatoes on a low flame till its properly cooked and golden in the color. Take out the fried potatoes in the tissue paper to get rid of the extra oil.

5. Heat another pan/wok with 2 tbsp oil and saute with ginger, garlic and spring onion( white part). Stir for 30 seconds then add all the chopped vegetables. Cook it on a high flame for 1-2 minutes.

6. Add soya sauce, red chii sauce, vinegar, green chili, salt and pepper powder. Stir for few seconds.

7. Add 1/4 cup of water and let it boil. Add corn flour mixture in the pan with continuous stirring with spatula to avoid any lumps in the gravy.

8. Add deep fried potato cubes and mix it well. Cook it on a high flame till the gravy is thick and well coated with the potato cubes. Switch off the flame, Serve hot.
