Lasooni Dal Recipe | Arhar Dal Recipe

Among all the exotic meals anyone can think of, Dal has its own place, it has its own Fanbase who would prefer it over any other type of meal any day. We can tell you this because Daal recipes are one of the popular recipes on ER.

Like Masoor Daal we shared few days ago, Lasooni Daal, as the name suggests, has a good flavour of garlic and is super yummy. Goes well with both Roti and Rice. And, yes, takes less time also.

Ingredients Quantity
Split yellow lentils / Tuwar Daal/ Arhar dal 1 cup
Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Water 1-1/2 cup
Green chilly 4
Garlic 3 tablespoon
Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
Mustard seeds 1/4 teaspoon
Coriander leaves for garnish
Ghee 2 tablespoon
Whole dry Red Chilly 3

Method:

1. Clean and wash split yellow lentils. Peel off the skin of garlic and chop it.

2. Take washed lentils along with water into a pressure cooker and add 1 tablespoon chopped garlic, slit green chilly, turmeric powder and salt. Pressure cook it on high flame for one whistle, then low the flame and cook for another 8 minutes. Switch off the flame. Let the pressure settles down.

3. Here you can see the image of cooked lentils. If you see the lentils are thick add some more boiled water and mix it well. Heat pan with ghee and temper with chopped garlic.

4. When garlic is light golden in color, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and dry whole Red chilly. Fry it on very low flame till garlic turns dark golden brown in color. Switch off the flame, add this garlic tempering to cooked lentils. Add some chopped coriander leaves into the pressure cooker and mix it well. Delicious Lasooni dal is ready to serve. Serve hot with chapatti and rice.
