Steamed Farah / Gujiya (How To make Spicy Farah)

This is undoubtedly an innovative low calorie snack! Flour wrappers are filled with a healthy filling of Split Bengal gram, split white gram and steamed to make an appetizing snack. Follow the exact procedure and make the world’s best Farahs!

Preparation Time :15 Minutes

Cooking Time :10 Minutes

Ingredients Quantity
Rice flour (Chaval ka Atta) 5 Cup
Split Bengal gram (Chana daal) 3 cup
Split White Gram (White Urad daal) 1 cup
Coriander leaves 1 bunch
Green chillies 10
Garlic 8 flakes
Dill 1 bunch
Salt to taste

Method :

For Filling:

1. Wash and soak split Bengal gram and White gram for 3 hours.

2. Grind Both Gram Separate without water.

3. Then Grind Green chillies And Garlic together.

4. Take a bowl , add grind split Bengal gram , split white gram ,and grind chillies and garlic.

5.  Now add chopped dill ,Coriander leaves  and salt, mix well and keep aside.

6. Now Filling is Ready.

For Farah Wrapper:

1. Sieve the flour and salt together.

2. Add warm water gradually and knead well to make a soft dough. And don’t add too much water.

3. Knead for a while till the dough is quite smooth and keep aside for 15 minutes, covered with a damp muslin cloth.

4. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions ,take a balls like Chapattis.

5. Roll out each portion into a 75 mm. (3″) diameter circle to make a farah wrapper.

How to proceed:

  1. Place a farah wrapper on a flat dry surface and put 3 teaspoons of the filling in the centre.
  2. Tilt The farah wrapper from all sides as shown above in picture.
  3. Repeat with the remaining farah wrappers and filling to make 11 more farah.
  4. Arrange the farah in a steamer plate and steam for 10 minutes.
  5. Serve hot.
