Dahi vada (also known as Dahi Bhalla in Punjabi , thayir vada in Tamil and perugu vada in Telugu) is an Indian chaat , prepared by soaking vadas in thick yogurt (dahi). Ingredients | Quantity |
White split Urad ( Skinned and Split white Lentils ) | 2 cup |
Dahi ( Yogurt) | 500 gram |
Tamarind Sauce | 2 Teaspoon |
Red Chilli Powder | a small pinch |
Chat Powder | a small pinch |
Salt | a small pinch |
Method :
1. Wash And soak Split white Lentils for 3 hours . Grind White lentils in a Mixer to make a smooth paste.
2. Now Heat oil in a pan and drop a spoonfuls of batter and fry till golden brown.
3. Take the hot vadas and put in hot water for 2-3 minutes. Now Take them out of water and squeeze the water and keep aside.
4. In a deep dish arrange vadas and pour dahi over them. Garnish with tempering (Red chilli powder , chat powder , salt , tamarind sauce /chutney ) as shown below . Serve the dahi vadas chilled. If you don’t like Tamarind sauce , you can tempered with Green Chutney or you can enjoy vadas without any sauce as per your like .
