Aloo Tikki Recipe|North Indian Street Food

Aloo Tikki (mashed potatoes with spices) is an extensively popular snack and can be seen at chaat stalls all over Lucknow and other parts of Northern India. It is typically relished as chaat with yogurt, onions, chillies and tamarind chutney as the topping.

Ingredient Quantity
Potato (boiled, peeled, mashed) 4
Red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Garam masala powder 1/4 teaspoon
Onion 1
Ginger 1/2 inch piece grated
Green Chilli 3
Coriander leaves for garnish
Tamarind Chutney 2 teaspoon
Yoghurt 2 teaspoon

Method:

1.  Potato boiled, peeled and mashed.

2. Divide the dough into 8 equal roundel . Flatten each ball or roundel between your palms to make the round patties or tikkis as shown below.

3. Heat oil in a pan, Fry tikki from both sides till golden brown as shown below. Now sprinkle red chilli powder, salt and garam  masala.

4. Now add 2 teaspoon tamarind chutney and yoghurt.

5. Garnish with Onion, green chillies, grated ginger and coriander leaves. Serve hot.
