Baby Corn Manchurian Recipe

Manchurian is one of the regular items in our family that gets its turn at least twice in a month. I’ve been preparing all types of them from last few years, even before I started this blog.

It is a good thing to share my versions of Manchurian on the blog as well so that everyone can enjoy it. The key ingredient here is baby corn, so, if you have got a thing for babycorn, this recipe becomes a must have to enjoy it.

You may want to try it Paneer or Gobi or even Mushrooms to customize this Manchurian, all the steps are going to be the same, follow the easy step by step recipe along with photos and make yourself a delicious meal.

Ingredients for baby corn to marinate:

Ingredients Quantity
Baby corn , cut into 1 inch pieces 12-14
Cabbage,finely chopped 2 tablespoon
Carrot, finely chopped 2 tablespoon
Ginger, minced 1/2  teaspoon
Garlic, minced 1/2 teaspoon
Pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon
Salt 1/4 teaspoon or to taste
Vegetable oil for deep frying

Ingredients for Batter:

All-purpose flour 1/2 cup
Corn flour 1/4 cup
Pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon
Baking powder 1/4 teaspoon

Ingredients for Gravy:

Vegetable oil 1 tablespoon
Garlic , chopped 1 teaspoon
Ginger, grated 1 teaspoon
Onion, cut into 1/2-inch cubes 1
Capsicum, cut into 1/2-inch cubes 1
Sweet n Sour sauce 2 tablespoon
Red chilly sauce 3 tablespoon
Soya Sauce 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Pepper powder 1/4  teaspoon
Green chilly 2
Vinegar 1 teaspoon
Corn flour 1 tablespoon dissolved in 3 tablespoon water
Water 1/2 cup


1.  Keep all the ingredients ready. Combine all the ingredients mentioned in the table “Ingredients for baby corn to marinate” except vegetable oil in a bowl, mix it well. Keep it aside for 15 minutes.

2. Then, combine all the ingredients mentioned in the table “ Ingredients for Batter” into another bowl, mix it well. There should be no lumps in the batter.

3. Add marinated baby corn in the batter (that means you have to combine step 1 & 2 together) as shown below in the image.

4. Heat the wok with oil, take one scoop of the batter and pour in the hot oil. Deep fry it on low to medium flame till golden and crisp.

5. Do the same with the rest of the batter. Now prepare the gravy for baby corn. Heat another pan with vegetable oil and saute with ginger and garlic.

6. Add diced onion and capsicum. Stir it on high flame for one minute.

7. Add sweet n sour sauce, red chilly sauce, soya sauce, pepper powder, green chilly and salt. Mix it well.  Add water and let it boil on high flame. Dissolve corn flour in 3 tablespoon of water. Add corn flour paste in the wok with continuous stirring with spatula to avoid any lumps in the gravy. Add vinegar in the gravy.

8. When gravy starts to thicken add fried baby corn and mix it well.

9. Delicious baby corn Manchurian is ready to serve, serve hot with your favourite rice.
